The Capetonian Edition 12:

‘Newlands Forest’ by Yann Friederich

Our 12th edition is a masterful piece by Yann Friederich, rich in detail and storytelling - you can see more of his work here: www.instagram.com/yann_enpleinair/

In Yann's own words - the reason he selected this special location:

"When tasked to draw a scene of Cape Town, I immediately looked within myself for inspiration. I wanted to capture a scene that Capetonians could relate to, but I was wary to not just recreate a typical scene of the city. I wanted to capture the essence of a truly Capetonian experience. Newlands hits home with me and so many Capetonians. Perhaps it’s the smell of the pine needles, or the way that light filters through the canopy, the moist and cool air or the never ending supply of cheerful dogs. There’s a specific ridge that I’m very fond of, with a stream running below. It’s here I come to recharge and reconnect. I hope this scene hits home for you as well."

You can purchase the cover as an A3 or A4 print, with a percentage of the profits going to support Siyaphambili Orphanage in Cape Town.
